Wendy Edson, Chair of the Professional Studies Division and Associate Professor of Legal Studies, took a group of four students, Angela Borkowski, Andrew Hollendursky, MaryJo Malczewski, and Krystyl Wachowski, to tour the federal courthouse on Friday, April 4. Judge Jeremiah McCarthy, a member of the Hilbert College Board of Trustees, invited the group to observe a detention hearing in his courtroom. Afterward, Judge McCarthy spoke with the students, as did the Assistant US Attorney and the federal public defender. The group also toured the court library with branch librarian Jay Deveau, who is a former Legal Studies adjunct who taught Legal Research at Hilbert for many years.
Many thanks to Judge McCarthy and Mr. Deveau for taking time from their busy schedules to meet with Hilbert students.
