Hilbert College hosted Homecoming and Alumni weekend on Sept. 26-27. More than 500 participants attended the events over the two days. The weekend kicked off with the Ninth Annual San Damiano Awards Reception, which was paired with The Classic Evening featuring antique cars from the collection of Dan Gernatt. The festivities concluded Saturday night with a free concert in the Hafner Recreation Center Gymnasium featuring up-and-coming country artist Aubrie Sellers.
Other events over the weekend included, the Blue, Black, and White Affair Dinner; alumni games for softball, baseball, and men’s lacrosse; a Hawks’ tailgate with free hamburgers, hot dogs, sausage and more during the women’s and men’s soccer games; and a kids’ interactive games area with a bounce house and a dunk tank.
This year’s San Damiano Award recipients are Hilbert professor Sandra Augustine, alumna Maureen English ’83, current student Colin Howard ‘15, alumna Lauren Lukasiewicz ’12, former trustee Paul Weaver (posthumously), and Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees, alumna Amanda McHale ’08 and alum Jacob Opala ’04. The Hilbert College San Damiano Awards honor alumni and friends of the college who personify Hilbert’s core values and tradition of integrity and excellence. Also recognized at the reception are the Hilbert College Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees. The Ninth Annual San Damiano Awards Reception included a silent auction to support student scholarships.
