On September 20th the Presidents and the Board Chairs finalized a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that was approved by the Boards of Trustees of Hilbert College and St. Bonaventure University. This MOU affirms that the two institutions will continue to exchange information on issues cited in the initial phase of the due diligence process. It is expected that this continued study will require at least three additional months.
“This non-binding Memorandum of Understanding is a next step in our process,” said Hilbert College President Cynthia Zane. “It acknowledges that we are asking the right questions and reaffirms our commitment to continue these talks.”
St. Bonaventure President Sister Margaret Carney agreed with Zane stating, “We recognize that the process is taking longer than expected, but we owe it to both schools to fully explore some of these questions. Now that our Executive Director, Teresa O’Rourke, has joined us, we are confident that we can make significant and timely progress in concluding the study.”
O’Rourke will hold “Listening Sessions” with the faculty and staff on each campus to gather additional questions and thoughts related to the alliance study in October and November. She will also support the committee as they continue to explore the due diligence issues this fall.
A copy of the non-binding Memorandum of Understanding and a timeline describing future steps is posted below. Please contact Teresa O’Rourke at email@example.com or extension 202 if you have any questions.
