WVBVolleyball Beats Saxons in Four
In the Hawks final non-conference game of the 2014 season, Hilbert College outlasted Alfred University and took a 3-1 match victory in the closest set scores for three games played this season.  Hilbert improved to 5-25 and dropped Alfred to 5-23.

Hilbert controlled the end of the set scoring by finishing with four straight kills to claim a 25-22 opening set win.  The second set was a back and forth affair with neither team gaining a large lead.  The Hawks grabbed 24 points first and thaks to a Alfred hitting error took the set 25-23.

The third set was a little frustrating.  The Hawks built an 18-11 lead and gave up points at the net with their .000 attack percentage.  Alfred rallied and held on for a 25-23 upset win.  And in the final set, Hilbert jumped out to a 8-2 lead and never allowed the Saxons to get into a rhythm as the visitors went into a hitting slump (-.235).  Hilbert ended with a fourth and final set score 25-14.

Amanda Binder finished with 20 kills, 21 digs and two solo blocks along with four assisted blocks.  Jordan Botsford gave another solid performance with 10 kills and 10 digs.  Defensively, Kayla Lewis (20 digs) and Chelsea Adamski (17 digs) kept the rallies alive and the Hawks in the game.  And Morgan Ott quarterbacked to 34 assists and seven digs/three kills.

The Hawks close out their 2014 season November 1 when they host Mount Aloysius College at 11 am.  The women’s volleyball program will also honor three seniors: Jordan Botsford, Kayla Lewis and Kaitlyn Murphy in a pregame ceremony.
