News & Notes – Oct. 31

CJEANYS— Carraugh Reilly Nowak, Ed Qualey, Denise Harris, Mark Paoni, and Marty Floss presented at the CJEANYS (Criminal Justice Educator Association of NY State) on Oct 22-24.

–Dr. Amy Smith presented a paper titled “Hilbert College’s Kenya Krew and Intercultural Competence” at the 4th Annual Intercultural Horizons Conference: Currents in Community Development, Civic Engagement, and Intercultural Competence.  The conference was held in New York City, Oct. 9-10.   In addition, Dr. Smith will be attending the 7th Annual Global Service Learning Institute from Nov. 5-7.  The theme of the institute is Advancing Community Driven Global Service-Learning: Promising Practices.

CJFS_AdoptHighway–The CJ/FS Dept along with the CJ/FS Assosication and the Men’s Basketball team joined forces to in their semiannual adopt-a-highway clean-up along South Park Ave and around campus.  The CJ Department has participated in this service for over 20 years!
