Jerame Owens 2014-15 Bio/statsPITTSBURGH, PA – The 2014-15 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) men’s basketball All-Conference teams were announced this morning and Jerame Owens and Trevor Stark became repeat honorees. Owens was selected to the First Team while Stark secured a spot on the Second team after they propelled Hilbert (21-7) to the league’s championship game for the second consecutive season.
Penn State Behrend’s Nick DeLisio was chosen as the Player of the Year, Jilian Reed (D’Youville) was named the Defensive Player of the Year, Arnes Bajgora (La Roche) the Newcomer of the Year and Earl Schunk from D’Youville College was selected the league’s Coach of the Year.
Jerame Owens led the Hawks in scoring (16.4 ppg), field goal percentage (.535), rebounding (10.0 rpg), block shots (40) and was second on the team in assists (83) and steals (52). His all-around play earned him a repeat First Team selection which followed his Newcomer /Third Team honor his rookie season.
The 6-6 junior averaged a double-double and was one of only two players in the AMCC to achieve this feat.
The Spencerport native’s most impressive game this season was in January 17th’s double over-time loss to Pitt-Greensburg when he ripped the glass for 27 rebounds (10 offensive), scored 20 points and was credited with four assists, three blocks and two steals.
With one season left to play in his Hilbert career, Owens is already the program’s All Time leader in Rebounds (833), Defensive Rebounds (577) and Block shots average (1.4). Owens has amassed 1,214 points (8th), 240 free throws (6th), 256 offensive rebounds (3rd), 117 blocks (2nd) and 142 steals (8th). He already holds a single season record in Rebounds, Defensive Rebounds and Blocked Shots.
Joining Owens on the First Team were DeLisio (Behrend), Jammal Coleman (Medaille), Zane Hackett (Behrend) and Reed (D’Youville).
Trevor Stark led the Hawks in minutes per game (33.8) and served as the quarterback on the team in his final season wearing the royal and white. The southpaw from Queens, NY also paced the team with 165 assists, 54 steals and was a sharp-shooter at the foul line sinking 90.6% of his free throws. He also picked up 4.4 rebounds per game and connected on 45.7% of his field goals. Stark returned to the AMCC All-Conference list after a First Team selection his junior year.
Stark’s 5.9 assists per game was tops in the AMCC and early in the season he was ranked #1 in assists in Division III. On December 3, Stark set a new Hilbert single season record when he recorded 15 assists in the 90-84 victory over Medaille College. On two other occasions, Stark posted double figure assists: 10 assists on Jan 24 against Mt. Aloysius and 12 assists on Senior Day against Penn State Altoona.
Stark carried Hilbert to a First Round victory over Bradford when he tallied a career-high 37 points, hitting 12 of 14 shots from the field and 9 of 10 at the charity stripe. He added eight assists and four steals announcing the Hawks as a contender for the AMCC championship title.
Trevor Stark earned a top 10 rankings in 15 different categories and sits alone as the only Hawk to play in 109 contests and connect on 84.7% of his free throws. He finished his career with 395 assists (2nd), 39.4% 3-point FG percentage (4th), 171 steals (5th), 1,245 points (6th), 233 free throws (8th), 443 field goals made (8th), 311 rebounds (18th), 5th in minutes played, 7th in games started.
Stark was complemented with other Second Team players from Bradford – Eric Matheson, Jerell Figueroa (Greensburg), Tanner Thomas (Mount Aloysius) and Keith Wallace (Behrend).
