Prof. Don Vincent Selected to Attend NCAA FAR Institute

VincentINDIANAPOLIS, IN – Hilbert College’s Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR) Donald Vincent has been selected by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to attend the 2015 NCAA Division III FAR Fellows Institute this fall.

With nearly 450 colleges and universities in NCAA Division III, the Association continues to invest in its largest population as it seeks to improve the student-athlete experience.  Hence the FAR Institute was launched in 2010, and it aims to increase the effectiveness of Division III FARs at the campus, conference and national levels.

Vincent, associate professor of Digital Media and Communication, is set to begin this ninth year at Hilbert and his fourth year as the FAR.  The Webster, N.Y. native has provided leadership within Hilbert and the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, and he has been recognized for his ability to affect positive change within the Hamburg campus as he continues to bridge the academic and athletic experience for Hilbert’s faculty and student-athletes.

“I am honored and thrilled having been selected to attend the FAR Fellows Institute this year,” said Vincent.  “I look forward to strengthening the relationship between Hilbert’s faculty and our outstanding student-athletes who are already excelling in the classroom.”

Institute attendees participate in a three-day professional development program which will be held at the NCAA national office in Indianapolis, Indiana October 16 – 18, 2015.  Vincent will participate in the evaluation of best practices and issues which surround the role and responsibility of the FAR.  He will also be exposed to other leadership possibilities within the conference, divisional and Association-wide committees.
