Carroccia and Podgorny AMCC Players of the Week

Junior Sal Carroccia and freshman Michael Podgorny were honored today by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference office.

Carroccia was named the AMCC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in his three-year career and Podgorny picked-up his first league recognition today.

Sal Carroccia (Lancaster) went 2-0 in his two starts during the Hawks’ eight game spring training sesson down in Fort Pierce, Florida.  Carroccia threw 14.2 innings and allowed 13 hits, one walk and only five runs.

In the 10-8 victory over Delaware Valley, Carroccia tossed 6.2 inning and struck out seven and then four days later, on March 11, the southpaw went eight innings and gave up two earned runs against Geneva.

Michael Podgorny (Grand Island) smacked a team-high 44 kills, leading the Hawks to a 2-1 record in a make-or-break weekend.  In victories over SUNY Poly and Wells, Hilbert moved back to .500 (9-9) and pushed their NEAC record to 6-5.

Podgorny posted a double-double with 17 kills and 15 digs in a five-set victory against SUNY Poly.   He also added 16 kills against Wells and 11 against Keuka.
