Hilbert Senior Paul Wujek Needs Your VOTE!

Hilbert College senior short stop Paul Wujek has been nominated for the D3 Hero of the Week and he needs your vote!

After already grabbing the AMCC Player of the Week honor on Monday, April 4, Wujek is now in the running for the weekly Player of the Week honor hosted by Herosports.com.

Wujek had a monster week, collecting 11 hits and 8 RBIs and it all started in the AMCC double header against Pitt-Bradford March 30.  Wujek finished the week with no strike-outs, a .524 batting average and a .857 slugging percentage as the Hawks went 2-4 splitting a non-conference series with Elmira and Pitt-Bradford and falling twice to league leaders La Roche College.

The Lancaster native hit for the cycle in the Hawks 11-10 win over league rival Pitt-Bradford.  His first swing went over the fence; he followed with an RBI double, a pair of singles and then forced a 10-10 tie with an RBI triple (facing a full count) before scoring the winning run.

In his next set of games at Elmira, Wujek continued to pound the ball.  He went 5-for-6, scored three runs and knocked in a 3 RBIs spurring the Hawks’ offense.

Wujek’s bunt single in the opening game against the Redhawks, the 3x AMCC champions, was the only contact he made with the ball as Hilbert dropped both games on the road.
