News & Notes – April 29

— The Spring 2016 issue of Star*Line contains an article on writing titled “Tracking Mega-Submissions” as well as a tanka titled “the goal is elevation” by Hilbert English Professor Herb Kauderer.

— Christine Scheck , who will be a  sophomore in the paralegal  program in Fall 2016,  will be awarded the 2016 scholarship from the Western NY  Paralegal Association at their annual dinner on May 10, 2016. Christine is a member of the Hilbert Honors program.  I shall attend the dinner with her.  Congratulations Christine.

— The GS 300 Service Learning Abroad class is collecting gently used spring and summer clothing to distribute during their service trip to Kenya.  Children’s clothing is especially sought—we’ll be working at a school for disabled children and an orphanage and would like to be able to provide the children with some clothes—but we’ll gladly accept any clothing.

Collection boxes are located in the Faculty Services office and in the Bogel Hall front foyer.  You can also feel free to drop things off at Amy Smith’s office, or give her a call and she will come to your office to pick them up.

Thanks in advance for your support.

— New Blog Post: This week there is an extremely contagious stomach virus plaguing local K-12 schools. Let’s not let this spread to Hilbert College during finals! Click here to read a review of washing your hands.
