Hilbert Attends AFCU Symposium for Joint Presentation

Hilbert College President Cynthia Zane and Director of Campus Ministry and Mission Integration Jeff Papia joined colleagues from 22 other Franciscan institutions for the AFCU (Association of Franciscan Colleges and Universities) 2016 Symposium at Marian University, Indianapolis, Ind., June 7-9.

The theme of this bi-annual symposium was The Franciscan Courage to Venture: A Symposium on Preparing Outstanding Leaders for the Modern World. Marian University highlighted its new Evans Center for Health Sciences as a leader of AFCU universities in the medical field with demonstrations of its latest SimMan technology.

President Zane and Jeff presented alongside Fr. Francis Di Spigno, O.F.M. from St. Bonaventure University. Their presentation was called “Franciscan Education Learning Community.” They shared with other AFCU schools the initiative that was jointly planned with St. Bonaventure, bringing together 10 administrators, faculty, and staff from each institution in Ellicottville to talk about the Franciscan Intellectual Tradition and how we can integrate it into our campus communities.

The 2018 AFCU Symposium will be held at the University of St. Francis (Joliet, Ill.) June 5–7, 2018, with the theme With Living Stones: Building a Franciscan Future … Together.
