Hilbert College has received notification from the Middle States Commission on Higher Education that, at its session on June 23, 2016, the commission acted to reaffirm accreditation for Hilbert College with a follow-up report due April 1, 2018. In a time when the federal government is putting increased pressure on regional accrediting bodies to intensify their oversight on colleges and universities, this was not a given.
“This outcome reflects the collaborative effort by the Hilbert community in preparation for the Middle States Team Visit,” Hilbert President Cynthia Zane said. “All colleges go through this rigorous process of self-examination and peer review. While there is still much work ahead of us at Hilbert, we are gratified the commission agreed with the visiting team that Hilbert College met all 14 standards for accreditation.”
“I am tremendously grateful to the co-chairs, Dr. Christopher Holoman and Dr. Donald Vincent. A special thank you to the members of Hilbert’s Steering Committee and self-study work groups. This is a testament to the shared efforts of the entire Hilbert community.”
