HAMBURG, N.Y. – Just as we gather back on campus and settle into the start the new academic year, the athletics department wants to remind our athletes and fans about the newly created BUFFALO CUP Challenge which kicks off this month.
Hilbert College, D’Youville College and Medaille College will keep track of their head-to-head athletic results throughout the course of the year. The school that collects the most points/victories will win the Buffalo Cup and retain possession of it until the new champion is crowned the following year.
Points to Ponder:
*In team sports: one point goes to the winning team in a conference-only contest. Double header games are tallied as two separate games
*In individual sports: two points will be awarded to the team earning the best score; one point will be awarded to the second-best finish.
*In the event of a photo-finish result at the conclusion of the season, the school with the highest percentage of individual Peak Performers will serve as the tie-breaker.
The excitement begins for Hilbert September 27 when the Hawks host Medaille College in soccer (2p women; 4:15p men) and the very next night welcome the Mavericks to the Hafner Recreation Center for a 7p women’s volleyball game.
The golf and cross country teams have a few weeks to polish their skills since the AMCC Golf Championship is set for October 9th and 10th while the runners have until October 30th before they have to put it all on the line in the AMCC Cross Country Championship.
