— Hilbert English professor Herb Kauderer had four poems published in the August 2016 14th Anniversary Issue of Scifaikuest.  The poems are the haiku “too close to the sun” and “romance not quite gone”, the mirrored fibonnaci “xenopologist”, and the cinquain “awaiting permission for re-entry”.

— Self-Assessments are due September 30, 2016!

As a reminder, here is the timeline for the Reviewsnap performance evaluation system for staff.

  • Current review period – October 1, 2015 to September 30, 2016
  • Self-assessment – to be completed by September 30, 2016, the end of the evaluation period.  Employees will complete their self-assessment online using the same form that their supervisor will use to complete their evaluation.
  • Annual evaluation – to be finalized (review completed by the supervisor, meeting held with the employee, and ALL signatures in place) by October 31, 2016, 30 days after the review period ended.

Your goals for the current review period should have been entered at the beginning of the review cycle.  If not, they must be entered before you begin your self-assessment.

Regarding new hires, employees with less than 6 months of service as of September 30 are not required to have an online evaluation completed by their supervisor.  However, informal feedback should be provided to the employee and the discussion of goals for the upcoming review period should take place.  Employees with 6 months to a year of service, should have an online evaluation completed by their supervisor however goals are optional.
