The Hilbert College baseball team put their gloves away for the day and found their way to the Airport Lanes bowling alley to assist with the Western Regional Special Olympics bowling tournament on November 5.
Head coach Drew Fittry and crew assisted the regional bowling tournament held in Cheektowaga that welcomed about 140 athletes.
The Hawks enhanced the Olympian’s experience through one-on-one coaching, helping with score tracking as well as providing refreshments during the three games. At the conclusion of the tournament, which ran from 8:45 until 11:45 am, the baseball team handed out pizza and medals.
This past weekend’s experience marked the second year the Hawks’ baseball team volunteered as part of the NCAA Division III initiative partnering with the Special Olympics.
